We are seeking a qualified estimator with a background in structural and miscellaneous steel in Redmond, Washington.
This role will be an important part of our estimating team and will shape the body of work we do for years to come. Our ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for building things.
We’ve been around since 1975. We’re proud of our heritage fabricating steel and aluminum for large infrastructure and marine contractors across the West Coast, and we’re growing fast. If you’re excited to learn, grow, try new things and aren’t afraid of a bold plan, you’ll fit right in. Reporting to the General Manager, you will be working closely with our leadership team to identify new projects for bid, performing the estimating work, coordinating with our general contractor customers and others as needed, and passing along successful bids to the project management team.
In short, you’ll be driving one of the most critical functions of the company, the construction of our pipeline of work.
This role will be a good fit if you:
-
Are analytical and detail oriented. You have solid conceptual thinking and problem-solving skills and you’re not afraid to use them.
-
Thrive in a fast-paced environment. You are level-headed in ambiguous situations that require an ability to prioritize and multi-task multiple deliverables.
-
Have excellent critical thinking skills. You can break down and communicate complex issues clearly and concisely.
-
Have impeccable ethics and integrity. You do the right thing. Always.
-
Are committed, organized, and share your ideas clearly. You’re a bona fide team player and you help others make the right choices fast.
What you’ll do:
-
Interface with end customers, general contractors, subcontractors and others to build a pipeline of new projects for bid.
-
Review drawings, specifications and other documentation provided by customers.
-
Prepare thorough estimates for new projects, including the estimation of materials, labor, equipment and buyouts.
-
Estimate prices for change orders as they arrive from customers.
-
Prepare summary documentation on awarded jobs and pass them to project managers for completion.
-
Report to General Manager monthly bid results and pending projects.
